John de Luna founded De Luna Partners in 2002 to raise capital for a select group of investment advisory, fund of hedge funds, private equity and venture capital firms. Prior to this he was Senior Vice President and Director of Sales, Western Region at State Street Research & Management, now BlackRock. For three years he was at State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) as Principal and Director of Public Funds, Western Region. Prior to SSgA, Mr. de Luna was with Scudder, Stevens, and Clark, where he was National Director of Marketing for the Reserve Asset Management Group. Mr. de Luna also established an investment management presence on the West Coast for Irving Trust, later The Bank of New York. Before this, he was with Crocker Bank, responsible for interest rate hedge management product sales and foreign central bank relationships in the Capital Markets Group. He was also Assistant Regional Manager to the Andean Pact Countries in Latin America in Crocker’s International Division. Mr. de Luna received a Juris Doctor from the School of Law at Santa Clara University and Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He holds NASD registrations Series 7, 63 & 65. Civic Leadership Mr. de Luna serves on the Advisory Board of the Rising Farmworker Dream Fund. It aims to leverage the power and resources of the business sector to enable positive social change within the American migrant farmworking community. Mr. de Luna also currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Marathon Club for Entrepreneurship. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of the New America Alliance Institute, has served as a member of the Board of Regents at Santa Clara University, is a past President of the Santa Clara University National Alumni Association, and was on the Board of Directors of the Mexican-American Bar Association Foundation of Los Angeles. Mentoring Mr. de Luna has mentored Robert A. Toigo Foundation fellows at Stanford University Graduate School of Business and UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Business since 1996. In 2004, the Board of Directors of the Robert Toigo Foundation honored Mr. de Luna by presenting him with the "Leading by Example" award. As Chairman of the Board of the New America Alliance Institute he led the creation of mentorship programs with the Harvard Business School and the National Society of Hispanic MBAs.
